”I feel love” . What is your favourite wild animal? . So, as you can see and probably just figured out by this post, I really like the giraffe. I´ve always related to animals that look a little odd 😉, and defies what the phrase ”normal” often stands for (even though I really don’t like that word). I have always admired giraffes for their long necks and knobby knees, but I became truly obsessed with them about a year ago when read up on the giraffe and got to know the animal a little better. It almost felt like i´ve found my spirit animal. No other animal could so perfectly match my height, clumsiness and overall goofiness as the giraffe;) . As some of you already have noticed, giraffes are quite tall. They're not just tall; they're the tallest animals on the entire planet. Their height is rivaled by none. Literally. But did you know that every giraffe's pattern is unique. Just like every human is different, every giraffe is different. Each one has a pattern that no giraffe has ever had, has or will have. . Another awesome fact, female giraffes give birth standing up. The result? Newborns are welcomed to the world with a 1.5m drop to the ground! Ouch! But these infants are quick to get on their feet – within 30 minutes they are standing, and only hours later they’re able to run with their mothers. How cool is that? . And if all these facts wasn´t enough to convince you of the giraffes awesomeness, let me tell you; they have figured out to use their own butt as a pillow when they sleep! . So yeah… I mean. What’s not to love? Sadly the giraffe is on the list over critically endangered animals, after years of habitat destruction and poaching. So next time you sit next to a giraffe on the bus, be sure to show him some extra love. ”A falling star” . If you had one wish, that absolutely would come true, what would you wish for? . Hi gang! You know, now when everybody is doing the 10 year challenge, I cannot help but think; where will this big bear be the next time this challenge come around? I love the polar bear. I don’t know if it’s because I’m from a northern country myself, and can relate to the cold climate and a constantly running nose (which I’m pretty sure are the key characteristic of a polar bear, right?). . Fact is, this is one of the toughest animals on the planet. Polar bears are well adapted to survive in one of the harshest environments on our planet. No, I’m not talking about christmas with the relatives, I’m talking about ice-cold frosty air and near-freezing water. They do this with a layer of fat called ”blubber”. BLUBBER! I mean, c´mon… I’m pretty sure its humanly impossible NOT to love a creature that consist of something called blubber. . Sadly, these majestic creatures are very vulnerable, and the biggest threat to polar bears is climate change. Rising global temperatures means that sea ice is melting earlier and forming later each year, leaving polar bears less time to hunt for food. But the good news is you can help these amazing animals! Avoid palm-oil, use less plastic thingys and turn off the lights as often as you can. You know, the little things. They do matter. . So, I guess that’s MY wish today. For you to give Fuzzy McClaws a thought, and maybe skip that plastic straw when getting your next burger. . Yes, I named him Fuzzy McClaws. ”Center of attention” . As some of you might remember, not long ago I was asked to become an ambassador for elephants by the @wwf. Truly on honor beyond words, and I kicked that off by (celebrating and) doing a fundraiser, asking you, my beloved followers to donate $1 in favour for the vulnerable elephants. . And wow, did you guys came through! In just one day we achieved our goal and together we raised over $300, that went straight to the protection of the species. It was beyond amazing, and a true evidence that many small actions truly can make a bigger difference. . Now it’s time for ME to give something, with your help. This weekend, every time you guys share one of my pictures in your story, I’m donating $1 to WWF, to help preserve the wonderful elephants on our planet. . I’m not setting any goals for this event, because if at least ONE of you does this I am considering it a win. And if 10 of your participate, well… its nothing short but amazing. ”Tree of life” . Hi guys. You know, we often take the importance of nature for granted, in fact, most people pride themselves on how they are not the “outdoorsy” type and could live perfectly happily without ever seeing a tree. But however anti-nature we might think ourselves to be, the reality is that none of us could exist if not for nature. This is especially true in the case of trees. We have trees to thank for a lot more than just their beautiful leaves and the oxygen we breathe. Like every other living organism, trees play a vital role in the world’s ecosystem. . So why am I telling you this? Well, every second, an forest area the size of two football fields is cut down somewhere around the world. Clearing trees to make way to plant palm oil and build communities. And thus, the animals lose their homes. The rhino, Mountain gorilla and the beautiful cheetah are a few among many who are being decimated by deforestation. . ”Summer snow” . What the heck is going on? What is up with this weird world weather we are having? Australia is seeing record-breaking temperatures while the US is frozen solid. Is the weather broken? . The record breaking heat in Australia leads to wildfire rage and temperatures of near 50 degrees have been recorded for the first time ever. Meanwhile the US is facing colder temperatures than Antarctic as a polar vortex produces temperatures of minus 40 degrees. Brrrrrrrrr. . So what’s up? Why can’t spring just gradually warm until it turns into summer? Why is there such a violent tug-of-war between seasons? Why is it so hot and so cold? Is this a climate change thing?  Well, in this particular case the scientists still debating. It could still be a ”weather” thing and not ”climate”. . But no matter what the case is here, the consequences are affecting everything around us. Not just us humans, animals are indeed having a harsh time also. Those poor creatures! . The brown bear has received very little attention in this respect, mostly because of his PR-friendly cousin, climate change-poster boy Mr Polar Bear. But the brown bear will have their habitat reduced by 11 percent by 2050 due to the variations in temperature. As you can imagine, having longer winters, and shorter summers really messes up his routine man. It’s reducing their ability to find food and not giving them the chance to gain weight for winter snooze. Ana this, my friends, impacts their reproduction rates. . ”Sea the future” . So there you are, an ancient sea lion born of absolute cuteness gliding through the sea when you suddenly spot a delicious jellyfish. Yum yum! You swallow it, but it turns out to be a plastic bag… What a bummer! Not only just a snack in lack of flavor, you will also probably die. Yeah, there was a time when humans were afraid of the sea. Today, it’s the other way around. . One of the greatest wonders of the sea these days is that it’s still alive. Billions of plastic bags spend their lifetimes floating in our oceans causing harm and killing wildlife. And when these bags do break down, they simply break into smaller pieces of plastic. This makes it even easier for sea lions, whales, turtles, seabirds and fish to mistake them for food and fill their stomachs with indigestible waste, which slowly starves them. . Is this the future you want? Big changes start with small steps and we all have the power to make a difference. Hey, I understand that going completely plastic free is challenging for most people, but we all know plastic consumption isn’t always well, necessary. Saying no to straws, buying in bulk and bringing your own reusable bags when shopping are just a few simple small steps you can take to cut down on the amount of plastic you’re consuming. . Remember, being a little more conscious is always in sea-son (did you sea what I did there?) (and there). "Bee my valentine" . Valentines day. Yay, I love it! But let’s be real here. Many guys mostly dislike Valentine’s Day, am I right? You probably think it’s a silly, made up holiday like ”Cinnamon bun day" and ”Dress up your friends in a clown outfit and make them go to the movies day". (My personal favorite holiday) Well, it’s really not. . Blame it on marketing, or the chocolate industry, we all want to feel loved, cared for and needed. That’s it. So that’s why I will use this day to throw some beautiful roses around someone that really deserves a whole bunch of love—the chimpanzee. . These amazing animals are our closest cousins; we share about 98 percent of our genes. As a result, we have so many similar features. Expressive faces, big toes and hands that can grasp. Just like us they laugh when playing and hug to show affection. I´m pretty sure they would really know how to celebrate valentines day as a boss! . And something really related to this particular day; chimpanzees are experts at grooming;) They spend a lot of their time running their fingers through each other’s hair to remove dirt and stuff. Grooming is an super important activity for these cool critters! A lot of dudes I’ve met have a lot to learn here;) . Sadly, chimpanzee habitat has been severely depleted. Chimpanzees used to live in 25 countries throughout tropical Africa… today they are extinct in five of those countries and endangered in five others. Chimpanzees have declined by 80 percent over the past 25 years because of habitat loss, hunting and capture for use in zoos, circuses and medical research. . So celebrate valentines day. All of you! "Top of the Food Chain” . Lions are big. Lions are impressive. And lions have fierce nicknames, like 'King of the Jungle' and 'Top of the Food Chain’. Unfortunately, lions are becoming rarer. They are being driven out of their habitats by hunters, poachers, and human encroachment. They could be all gone in three decades! That’s so lame. That´s why I’m going to totally save the lions by list some cool reasons why we must care about these majestic animals! . 1. Winner of best hair.  A thick, gorgeous mane not only to show that it's fit and healthy, it really make all the ladies go roaaar. . 2. Epic nappers. Lions spend about two to three hours hunting, one hour eating, and a full 20 hours sleeping every day! Did someone say "nap goals"? . 4. Video game brains. They’ve got street (well, savanna) smarts. To be successful, lions must outsmart their prey. So they memorize every inch of their hundred-square-mile territories. They store detailed, 3-D maps in their brains, like in a video game. . 5. Ninja-skills! They’re the ninjas of the animal kingdom, masters of the stealth approach. Their padded feet make barely a sound on soft grass and sand. And their tan-colored coats blend into their natural habitat. . 6. One word; Nightvision! (Or is that two?) Lions can see six times better in the dark than humans! They have a reflective layer of cells at the back of their eyes. Light from the moon or stars hits the cells and bounces forward, like a car’s headlights. . 7. They can count! Come on, how awesome is that? .
