A few years ago, Adidas announced they would start making their shoes out of ocean plastic garbage. They teamed up with Parley in 2016 to create a capsule collection made entirely of yarns and filaments recycled from ocean waste. In 2017 Adidas added three more versions of shoes made from ocean plastics and so far sold 1 million pairs, which translates to 11 millions plastic bottles from the ocean recycled into highly profitable product! Thanks to @chrismakesthis for the news suggestion. For a week, Robert Leibowitz walked around the Disney World, wearing a T-shirt that read: "In Need of Kidney. O Positive." A couple who saw him wearing the T-shirt at Disney in August snapped a photo and shared it on Facebook. It went viral. It caught the attention of Richie Sully, of Indiana, who proved to be the perfect match. The men underwent successful transplant surgery in New York. ❤️✌️ Source: Facebook #thehappybroadcast #love #instagood #photooftheday #beautiful #happy #cute #followme #picoftheday #motivation #art #instadaily #friends #repost #nature #fun #style #illustration #inspiration #goodnews #art #artist #illustration #disney #disneyworld #kidney #mickeymouse #tshirt #fashion #newyorkcity

France is at the forefront of a campaign against chemicals blamed for decimating critical populations of crop-pollinating bees. A radical step has been taken towards protecting its dwindling bee population by becoming the first country in Europe to ban all five pesticides that are killing off the insects. By enforcing the ban, France is going further than the European Union, which voted to outlaw the use of three pesticides in crop fields. Two border crossings between Ethiopia and Eritrea reopened, strengthening a promise of reconciliation between the countries' leaders after a border war and 20 years of bitter relations. Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia’s 41-year-old prime minister, and Isaias Afwerki, the 71-year-old president of Eritrea, have promised to reopen embassies and resume trade, flights and direct phone lines between the countries Some analysts have compared the events to fall of the Berlin Wall because families that were separated on either side of the border are finally able to reconnect. I love Africa and it's amazing to cover some of the great news that come from there (but also be aware of the many issues that still plague that amazing continent and its people) Source: BBC #thehappybroadcast #love #instagood #photooftheday #beautiful #happy #motivation #art #instadaily #friends #repost #nature #fun #style #illustration #inspiration #goodnews #art #artist #illustration #goodmorning #goodnews #peace #africa #ethiopia #eritrea #loveit #peaceful #african #news

France became the first nation to decriminalise homosexual activity in 1791. The Netherlands did so in 1811 and Brazil in 1830. A few more countries followed suit, but it was not until the sexual revolution of the 1960s and the 1970s that decriminalisation of homosexuality gained steam. Out of 195 independent countries in the world today, 128 have decriminalised homosexuality. But progress on gay equality has not been uniform. Homosexuality remains illegal in over 60 countries, with some regions, such as the Middle East and Africa, lagging behind the rest of the world.
